Jan Wertel

Jan Wertel was born in 1976 in Germany. He graduated from the Industrial Design Department of the Art Academy of the State of Künste Stuttgart in 2004.

Wertel interned at Carpenter Braun and the Metalsmith May Studios during his school years. He then started working independently for the companies Industrial and Design7even. Wertel worked as Design Project Director at StudioXRoss Lovegrove between 2004 and 2006.

In 2006, together with Gernot Oberfell, he founded the Wertel Oberfell platform in London, which works in a wide range from furniture to lighting, from industrial product design to experimental research.

He opened second studio of Wertel Oberfell in Munich in 2010.
